About Me

I’ve had clients tell me they’ve been in therapy before (sometimes for many years), with a therapist that was a good listener, but the therapy seemed to go nowhere fast. Talking about your problems is important, and we’ll be doing that. We will also do more.

I will help you tap into the intelligence of your mind and body in a way you may not have experienced before. This new relationship to yourself is key to healing.

We will use tools gained from the latest research to work with the parts of your brain that hold old beliefs and experiences that get in the way of you feeling your very best.

I’ve had clients tell me that our work has helped them feel empowered, as they now understand themselves on a deeper level. Other things I hear are:

My mood is better.

My anxiety has improved.

I feel more comfortable in my own skin.

I'm kinder to myself.

My intuition is stronger.

I manage my emotions better.

My Main Toolbox

The way I work is largely experiential (i.e., you having an experience in the present moment), and is heavily influenced by:

Interpersonal Neurobiology: This work tells us how the brain develops and changes, how it heals, and how it is impacted when in safe/unsafe relationships.

Attachment Theory: This theory teaches us how our nervous systems develop to connect in intimate relationships. As a result of our early experience, we may be “wired” to attach securely (feeling comfort in relationships) or insecurely (feeling anxiety or being dismissive in relationships). Having an attachment theory lens means that one of the things I focus on is on helping people move towards feeling safe and secure within themselves, in relationship with me, and in relationships in general. I’m certified in DARe (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience).

Somatic Psychotherapy: This type of therapy involves the body and the mind, and helps get people in touch with their strengths and their wisdom, and helps to resolve trauma. This method uses mindfulness (being in the present, with curiosity about what is) to explore body sensations, thoughts, feelings, memories, and other experiences. I’m certified in Trauma Resiliency Model.

Trauma Regulation Integration Process (TRIP): This method works to heal trauma through working with the parts of you that are stuck in the past (i.e., child parts), along with parts of you that are more connected to the present, and through improving the relationships between both. TRIP works on improving secure attachment within yourself and on releasing trauma.
